Emergency lighting is essential for standby lighting which is very critical. Stand by lighting refers is that type of lighting which is required after the power supply has been interrupted. These lights make use of battery packs or generators and get switched off once there is an interruption in power supply. Standby lighting is mainly required in places such as police stations, hospitals and fire stations. With the help of emergency lighting, main activities can continue even during times of power failure. Emergency lights have saved several thousands of lives over the years. The lights have to be maintained regularly for optimum performance.
